Edo Governor Obaseki increases Minimum Wage To N70,000

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has increased the minimum wage for state workers from N40,000 to N70,000, effective May 1, 2024.
He announced this during the opening of the Edo State Labour House Complex, which serves as the secretariat for the state’s Labour Unions.
This decision comes five months before the governorship election in September, where the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a strong challenge from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
To avoid political controversy, Governor Obaseki named the new building after his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, an APC senator.
