Edo assembly serves Philip Shaibu impeachment notice
The petition, signed by 21 out of 24 assembly members, alleges perjury and disclosure of government secrets against Shaibu.

The Edo State House of Assembly has directed its clerk, Yahaya Omogbai, to deliver an impeachment notice to Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu following a petition presented during Wednesday’s plenary by Majority Leader Charity Aiguobarueghian.
The petition, signed by 21 out of 24 assembly members, alleges perjury and disclosure of government secrets against Shaibu.
Speaker Blessing Agbebaku confirmed receipt of the petition and instructed Omogbai to serve Shaibu with the impeachment notice, granting him seven days to respond.
Shaibu, who has faced impeachment threats over his involvement in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election, asserted his constitutional right to contest the Edo governorship election despite the challenges.
