Diri Praises Bayelsa Election as INEC’s Best Despite Challenges
INEC declared Diri, running for a second term under the PDP, the victor with 175,196 votes, surpassing APC’s Timipre Sylva who secured 110,108 votes.

Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri has praised Saturday’s gubernatorial election, asserting it to be one of INEC’s finest.
INEC declared Diri, running for a second term under the PDP, the victor with 175,196 votes, surpassing APC’s Timipre Sylva who secured 110,108 votes.
In a Tuesday interview on Channels Television, Diri lauded the election’s transparency, acknowledging challenges linked to the state’s terrain. Despite imperfections, he deemed it free and fair, emphasizing the successful use of BVAS technology.
Diri explained that complaints about result announcement delays were due to a lack of comprehension regarding the state’s geographical complexities by some critics.
