Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Kogi, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to invalidate the off-cycle state election.
Speaking at a press conference in Lokoja, Melaye alleged that result sheets were prepared before voter accreditation began on Saturday.
He asserted that there was no election in the central senatorial district and called for urgent cancellation, citing manual accreditation and discrepancies in result sheet availability.
Melaye criticized INEC’s trustworthiness, alleging bias and compromise, and presented evidence of irregularities, including the arrest of a youth corps member with a pre-filled result sheet and cash.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) also called for election cancellation in Kogi’s central senatorial district. INEC, responding to reports of pre-filled result sheets, stated on Saturday that it was seriously investigating the situation.
