The Kwara State Government has issued a stern warning to contractors responsible for ongoing water projects within the state.

The State’s Commissioner for Water Resources, Honourable Usman Yunusa Lade, gave this warning during a meeting with contractors and project consultants.

Commissioner Lade emphasized the importance of using high-quality materials and adhering to project timelines.

He announced the formation of a committee tasked with evaluating the quality of work across these projects.

“Contractors found guilty of unnecessary delays or subpar work will face blacklisting and public disclosure of their names.” Commissioner said.

Lade stressed that business as usual will not be tolerated, insisting that contractors must deliver top-notch work within the agreed-upon timeframes.

“Those failing to meet quality standards or whose work does not justify the funds received will not receive additional payments and will be officially blacklisted.”He added.

Furthermore, Commissioner Lade encouraged consultants to not only provide quality work but also to give back to their communities as part of their contribution to the state’s progress and development.

He highlighted the administration’s commitment to fulfilling electoral promises and ensuring that every corner of the state benefits from the dividends of democracy.

During the meeting, Mr. AbdulRasaq Adebayo, Acting Director of Hydrogeology, and Engineer Yusuf Wopa, Director of Water Engineering Services, reported challenges faced at project sites by the consultants. In response, the consulting firms, including Al-Hassan Limited and Dabarak Nigeria Limited, pledged to uphold the state government’s trust and promptly address the issues at hand.
