Dangote refinery begins production

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has initiated the production of diesel and aviation fuel.

Despite this, the refinery has not yet started producing Petroleum Motor Spirit (petrol). Anthony Chiejina, Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, confirmed the commencement of operations.

A statement from the Dangote Group expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging his support. Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, termed it a historic achievement for Nigeria, thanking various entities, including the government, bankers, and financiers.

The refinery, located in Lagos, aims to load 2,900 trucks daily, producing products meeting international specifications.

The production of diesel and aviation fuel began in January 2024, with petrol production delayed due to gradual crude oil supply.

The refinery, with a daily capacity of 650,000 barrels, is expected to impact petroleum product prices positively, bringing hope to Nigerians.
