Court Reinstates Shaibu As Edo Deputy Gov, Assembly Appeals Judgement
Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has been reinstated to his position by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This follows his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly in April, which the court declared illegal, unconstitutional, null, and void.
The court ordered that Shaibu’s salaries and allowances be paid from the time of his impeachment and issued a perpetual injunction against Governor Godwin Obaseki and the State Assembly from obstructing Shaibu’s duties.
The Edo State House of Assembly has appealed the ruling and filed a motion for a stay of execution pending appeal.
