A production warrant has been issued by Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on October 5, 2023, against Nigerian artist Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.
Naira Marley is currently facing 11-count charges related to conspiracy and credit card fraud, as brought forth by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During the recent court session, the defendant’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, informed the court that Naira Marley couldn’t attend due to his detention by the Police, related to the investigation of the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad. Consequently, Ojo requested an adjournment of the trial.
In response, the prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, requested the court to issue a production warrant to ensure Naira Marley’s presence at the next adjourned date. Justice Oweibo granted this request and scheduled the continuation of the trial for October 30, 2023.
