The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the N800bn 2024 budget signed into law by Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara is illegal.
The court nullified the budget, stating that the actions of the four lawmakers who passed it were null and void.
The court also recognized Martin Amaewhule as the legitimate speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, thereby challenging the legitimacy of the faction of lawmakers loyal to ex-governor Nyesom Wike, who attempted to impeach Fubara.
