Commissioner, Former LG Chairman Abducted by Gunmen in Benue
According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Tersoo Kula, Mr. Abo was kidnapped by armed individuals at his residence in Sankara around 8 pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mr. Erukaa was abducted on the preceding Saturday.
Benue State Government has officially confirmed the abduction of Mr. Matthew Abo, the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, as well as Mr. Iorwashima Erukaa, a former Chairman of the Ukum Local Government Area (LGA).
According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Tersoo Kula, Mr. Abo was kidnapped by armed individuals at his residence in Sankara around 8 pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mr. Erukaa was abducted on the preceding Saturday.
The kidnappers have taken both individuals to undisclosed locations. While they have established contact with Mr. Erukaa’s family, they have not yet made contact with Mr. Abo’s family.
Governor Hyacinth Alia has strongly condemned this heinous act and deemed it barbaric and unacceptable. He has instructed security agencies to initiate immediate operations to secure the safe release of both victims. The Governor reassured the people of the state that his administration is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all residents.
