Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has secured his future at Stamford Bridge by signing a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2033, as reported by journalist David Ornstein.

The 22-year-old, who made the switch from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer in a £40 million deal, has swiftly emerged as one of the Premier League’s most impressive talents.

“Cole Palmer has committed his future to Chelsea by extending his contract for an additional two years. The 22-year-old England forward, initially under contract until 2031, is now tied to the club through June 2033. This extension rewards his outstanding debut season following his transfer from Manchester City,” Ornstein shared in a post on X on Tuesday.

Palmer’s first season in west London was nothing short of spectacular, as he racked up 25 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.

His remarkable performances earned him a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad, where he played a key role. Palmer assisted Ollie Watkins’ decisive goal in the semi-finals and scored the equalizer in the final against Spain, although England fell just short of victory.

Despite the scrutiny Chelsea has faced regarding their transfer approach since Clearlake Capital took over from Roman Abramovich, Palmer has been a standout success.

The new contract reflects fresh terms that acknowledge his brilliant debut season.

Palmer featured in Chelsea’s last pre-season match against Inter Milan under new manager Enzo Maresca and is expected to be part of the lineup when Chelsea faces Manchester City, his former club, in their season opener on Sunday.

Meanwhile, as Chelsea secures Palmer’s future, uncertainty remains around another England international, Conor Gallagher. Gallagher had agreed to a £33.7 million move to Atletico Madrid and even completed a medical with the Spanish side.

However, complications regarding a deal involving Samu Omorodion moving in the opposite direction have cast doubt on the transfer.

Chelsea has requested that Gallagher return to London as the situation is resolved, with Tottenham reportedly still showing interest in the 24-year-old midfielder.

Negotiations between Atletico and Chelsea are ongoing to finalize the deal.
