Burna Boy has sold out an 80,000-capacity stadium in London, becoming the first African artiste to solo headline a UK stadium.
On Saturday night, the Grammy winner delivered a spectacular performance of ‘Love, Damini’, his 19-track album, to the energetic concertgoers at West Ham United’s London Stadium.
Burna Boy also treated the audience to as many as 49 songs from his impressive catalogue of hits as the crowd sang along with him.
International artistes like Stormzy, Popcaan, Dave & Jhus were also guest performers at the concert.
The UK stadium management announced the ‘Way Too Big’ crooner’s latest achievement on Twitter.
“Now sold out!! @burnaboy’s record breaking concert has now officially sold out!” it wrote.
“What an incredible achievement for the first ever African artist to solo headline a UK stadium! For those lucky enough to make it, enjoy the show.”
The London Stadium has 60,000 seats when operating in football mode and is 80,000 capacity for concerts.
The singer was also presented with a plaque for the record-breaking feat.
Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy started to gain fame after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).
In 2021, the singer set a record in Nigeria after his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards.
Over the course of his blistering career, Burna Boy has performed and sold out some notable venues across the globe.
In April, he was ranked the African artiste with the highest revenue from a single concert.
Burna Boy will be performing at the 2023 UEFA Champions League (UCL) final on June 10.
