Buhari Applauds Supreme Court’s Verdict on Tinubu’s Election
He mentioned that this judgment is a source of relief for both him and many Nigerians.
Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s ruling that dismissed the petitions against President Bola Tinubu’s election.
He mentioned that this judgment is a source of relief for both him and many Nigerians.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court rejected the petitions brought forth by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi. The seven-man panel, led by Justice John Okoro, concluded that these petitions lacked merit.
Buhari encouraged Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to accept the hand of fellowship offered by the Tinubu-led administration.
He reiterated these sentiments in a post shared on social media by his former Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Thursday.
Buhari emphasized that this decision reaffirmed the will of the majority in favor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, against the determined resistance of a minority.
He commended the opposition for their efforts and urged them to allow the government to fulfill its promises, stressing the importance of citizens exercising their civic rights to vote, particularly in urban areas, where democracy is flourishing in Nigeria.
