Buba Galadima asks Tinubu to stay out of Kano politics

Buba Galadima, a prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has urged the federal government and President Bola Tinubu to avoid involvement in Kano state politics.

The state is currently embroiled in a dispute over the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano, following the enactment of the new Kano Emirate Council Law and the removal of Aminu Bayero.

In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Galadima cautioned Tinubu against meddling in Kano’s political affairs, warning that it could “destroy his presidency.”

Galadima noted that if Boko Haram has been able to hold Nigeria hostage for the past 13 to 14 years, Tinubu would not be able to handle the fallout from interfering in Kano’s politics.

“I want to advise the federal government, including my friend, President Bola Tinubu, to be cautious with Kano politics, as it could jeopardize his presidency,” he said.

He added, “There is never consensus on any issue in Kano, and I have deep knowledge from my time as a youth leader during the NPN era. Influential politicians in Kano have even approached the president to remove Abba Yusuf, believing it would go unchallenged. The president should question how these figures failed to win the election in the first place.

“If Boko Haram can hold Nigeria hostage for the last 13 to 14 years, the government should be wary of Kano. We in Kano have matured politically, and this is not a threat, but a cautionary statement.”
