Be proactive against regional, global threats – Tinubu tells security agencies

President Bola Tinubu has called for increased vigilance and proactive measures to counter regional and global threats.
Speaking on Friday at the graduation ceremony for participants of Course 32 at the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the need for military officers to tackle the current national security challenges. The course included 111 participants from Nigeria’s security agencies and 19 other countries.
“We must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing regional and global threats as we progress,” Tinubu said, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He also stressed the importance of promoting and upholding democratic values within Nigeria and across the continent.
As the current chair of ECOWAS, Tinubu reiterated his commitment to strengthening ties and resolving ongoing challenges within the West African community.
The president assured that his administration is focused on addressing Nigeria’s security, social, and economic issues. He pledged to ensure the Nigerian military is well-equipped to handle these challenges and highlighted recent government efforts, including the implementation of a new national minimum wage that benefits both civilian workers and security personnel.
Tinubu also mentioned ongoing initiatives to combat crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta and to create a conducive business environment that supports value addition in the mining sector.
