Barcelona is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

This development follows the news that Nico Williams is likely to remain with Athletic Club, having confirmed his commitment to the team on social media.

Williams, 22, recently resumed pre-season training with Athletic Club and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season in a social media post: “I’m back! I’m really looking forward to this season. Vamos, Athletic!”

With Williams set to stay at Athletic Club, Barcelona has turned its focus to Olmo, who played a key role in Spain’s successful Euro 2024 campaign.

The 26-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists, contributing to Spain’s fourth European Championship victory.

Olmo’s impressive performances have drawn interest from top clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Barcelona is reportedly nearing an agreement to acquire Olmo for a transfer fee of €55 million, plus €7 million in add-ons.

Dani Olmo, who left Barcelona for Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, is now set to return to the Catalan giants.

Despite injuries limiting him to 17 league appearances for RB Leipzig last season, Olmo still managed to score four goals and provide five assists.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig has announced the re-signing of Xavi Simons for the 2024/25 campaign, mitigating the impact of Olmo’s departure.
