Barcelona beat Real Madrid 4-0 in La Liga Clasico

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona defeated rivals Real Madrid 4-0 on Saturday, handing the Spanish champions their first La Liga loss in over a year.
Teenager Lamine Yamal and Raphinha added to the scoreline, while Madrid’s star Kylian Mbappe saw two goals disallowed for offside in a challenging debut Clasico for Los Blancos, who now trail leaders Barcelona by six points.
Despite Mbappe’s efforts, Barcelona’s high defensive line continually thwarted his attempts, frustrating the Santiago Bernabeu crowd as the Catalans netted all four goals in the second half.
Barcelona ended Madrid’s 42-game unbeaten run in La Liga, just one game short of the club’s record, marking a significant milestone in Hansi Flick’s tenure as head coach. Flick’s young team not only ended a four-match losing streak in Clasicos but also showcased their rapid progress.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti opted for a more physical midfield by selecting Eduardo Camavinga over Luka Modric, aiming to counter Barcelona’s high line with long passes to Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.
Barcelona’s defense consistently caught Madrid offside in a tense first half. Mbappe was twice denied after narrowly missing the target, and Jude Bellingham forced a great save from Barca keeper Inaki Pena, though it, too, was flagged for offside.
Barcelona made changes at half-time, bringing in Frenkie de Jong for better control, and quickly took the lead. Casado set up Lewandowski, who calmly slotted home, followed shortly by his header to make it 2-0. Lewandowski, showing remarkable form under Flick, has now scored 14 league goals in 11 games.
Despite Mbappe’s attempts, including another goal ruled out for offside, Real Madrid struggled to mount a comeback. Lamine Yamal scored Barcelona’s third goal, while Raphinha completed the win with a lob over Madrid’s keeper, leaving the Bernabeu stunned.
This impressive victory continues Barcelona’s climb, solidifying their place at the top of La Liga.
