Awoniyi Scores First Goal of the Season as Nottingham Forest beat Wolves

Taiwo Awoniyi marked his return to the scoresheet with a stoppage-time goal in Nottingham Forest’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their English Premier League (EPL) clash on Monday.
The Super Eagles forward netted Forest’s third goal at the Molineux, capping off a dominant performance by the surprise contenders this season.
Awoniyi capitalized on a perfectly placed pass from James Ward-Prowse, slotting the ball into an empty net in the dying moments of the match.
The goal ended a nearly year-long drought for the 27-year-old, whose last strike came in February 2024 during a 2-0 win against West Ham United. Overcome with emotion, Awoniyi dropped to his knees in celebration, a poignant moment reflecting the challenges he has faced with injuries over the past year.
Before Awoniyi’s heroics, Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood had already set the tone for Forest, scoring crucial goals that showcased the team’s dominance.
The win marks Forest’s 12th victory of the season, propelling them to an impressive third place in the league standings.
They are now level on points with second-placed Arsenal and four points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea, as their remarkable campaign continues.
