Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice-President, has provided an explanation for the difference in the name on his senior secondary school examination (SSCE) certificate.

The certificate, which is under scrutiny, bears the name Sadiq Abubakar.

In response to allegations of forgery from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku clarified that he used the name “Sadiq” when taking his SSCE and later legally affirmed that “Abubakar Sadiq” and “Atiku Abubakar” refer to the same person through an affidavit.

He emphasized that he consistently used “Atiku Abubakar” in subsequent educational and employment contexts.

This development coincides with a certificate forgery allegation against President Bola Tinubu, as Atiku challenges the election results and educational records of his opponent.

Atiku has been granted access to Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University and is seeking to present new evidence in the supreme court related to the president’s academic records.
