Asake Releases Debut Single ‘Why Love’ Under New Label, Giran Republic

Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has launched a new chapter in his career with the release of “Why Love”, his first single under his newly established independent record label, Giran Republic.
Speculations about Asake’s departure from YBNL have been ongoing, though neither he nor Olamide’s label has confirmed any contract termination.
Produced by Magicsticks, “Why Love” blends upbeat rhythms with themes of heartbreak, fame, and self-growth while maintaining Asake’s signature Fuji-Afrobeat fusion.
Since his debut in 2022 with Mr. Money with the Vibe, Asake has consistently topped charts. His albums Work of Art (2023) and Lungu Boy (2024) achieved Billboard success, with Lungu Boy setting a record as Nigeria’s longest-running number-one album.
His achievements include an All Africa Music Award, two Headies Awards, and a MOBO Award.
