Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus ruled out of World Cup over Knee Injury

Gabriel Jesus will play no further part in Brazil’s World Cup campaign after he suffered a knee injury during last night’s defeat against Cameroon.
The 25-year-old made his first start of the competition, deputising for Tottenham’s Richarlison, but endured a dispiriting evening as his run without a goal for club and country extended to 14 mathces.
After the game Jesus complained of feeling pain in his right knee, an area that has caused him considerable trouble in the past.
Jesus underwent medical examinations this morning after which it has been determined, according to Globo Esporte, he will not feature again in the tournament.
The former Manchester City forward has had a galvanising impact on Arsenal’s attack since moving to the Emirates Stadium and thankfully for Mikel Arteta his headline summer signing’s absence is unlikely to be long-term.
Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Boxing Day against West Ham and although that fixture is likely to come too soon for Jesus, he is reported to targeting a return in early January
