Arsenal is reportedly eyeing Jorrel Hato to bolster their defensive lineup, as Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen the team amidst Serie A interest in Jakub Kiwior.

The Telegraph states that the Gunners are contemplating a move for the versatile 17-year-old Ajax prodigy, capable of playing as a center-back or left-back effortlessly.

Arteta sees Hato as a strategic, long-term addition to provide defensive stability for Arsenal over the next decade.

While Ajax aims to extend Hato’s contract, set to expire in 18 months, Arsenal, having previously successfully dealt with Ajax by signing Jurrien Timber, is expected to express formal interest in Hato during the upcoming summer transfer window rather than in January.

Hato has already showcased his talent, captaining Ajax despite his young age. Making his senior international debut in November against Gibraltar, he has played every minute in the Eredivisie for Ajax this season.

However, Hato’s potential move to Arsenal raises questions about Jakub Kiwior’s future at the Emirates Stadium.

The Polish player, who arrived for £17m ($21.52) in January last year, has reportedly fallen short of expectations and could be headed to Serie A. Kiwior previously played for Spezia, accumulating 43 appearances over two seasons.
