Mikel Arteta has committed to Arsenal by signing a new three-year contract, extending his tenure at the club until 2027.

The 42-year-old has managed Arsenal since 2019, leading them to two consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League. However, his previous contract was set to expire within the next 12 months.

Sky Sports News first reported last month that Arteta was likely to extend his stay at the club.

This contract extension comes just before Arsenal’s highly anticipated Super Sunday match against their fierce rivals Tottenham, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

During his first season in charge, Arteta guided Arsenal to FA Cup victory in 2020, and the team has also secured two Community Shield wins, in 2020 and 2023.

Arteta expressed his enthusiasm about the new contract, saying, “I’m incredibly proud and excited about what lies ahead. It’s an honor to be where I am, and I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built with everyone at the club.

“I consider myself fortunate to work alongside such dedicated individuals every day. The ambition we share here inspires and challenges me, and I’m eager to achieve even more together.

“With the players, the staff, and our amazing supporters who have emotionally reinvigorated this club, we’re looking forward to the future. Our supporters have brought about a transformation, and you can sense the change. We are different now, thanks to them. We’re excited to continue this journey together.”
