APM’s Suit Against Shettima, Tinubu Dismissed by Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal
The tribunal’s chairman, Justice Haruna Tsammani, stated that double nomination was not a valid ground for disqualification in presidential elections according to constitutional sections 131 and 137.
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has dismissed the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) lawsuit against Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Bola Tinubu.
The tribunal’s chairman, Justice Haruna Tsammani, stated that double nomination was not a valid ground for disqualification in presidential elections according to constitutional sections 131 and 137.
Furthermore, he ruled that Ibrahim Masari, nominated as a placeholder by the APC for the Vice President position, was not a required party in the petition, as he wasn’t a candidate nor did he win the election.
