APC Primary : People wanted me, But Gov Abdulrazaq did not – Oloriegbe

The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has said he lost his re-election bid because the Governor of the state, Mall Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq did not want him as the party’s flag bearer.

The Lawmaker who stated this on Wednesday when he featured as guest on Channel Television’s Sunrise daily” accused Abdulrazaq of directing delegates to vote for particular candidates at the primary elections.

He said, “The Primary election process ought to start with election of delegates, in almost everywhere there was no proper election of delegates, delegates were selected by the governors or by some individuals where there are no governors in the party.”

“The delegates election process ought to be just like the primary where delegates obtain forms where there will be proper congresses, there was no congress particularly like in my state the governor just agreed one night that they said we have done primaries and the list came, you don’t even who the delegates are, they change it at will and this happen in several states.”

“Even when people are selected people should be given their free conscience to exercise their franchise by voting for who they want, it’s not like that first in my state in the selection process of delegates in my state and several states, most of my colleagues also steer the same thing, the governor select those that they will give instructions and some of them take hold to say it’s where the governors say we should vote we will vote.”

“They were directed to vote for particular candidate and I swear by my God this is what happen in Kwara state, This is what happen from house of assembly, in fact it was funny in one of the house of assembly in my state, in my constituency where I came from from, the delegates were initially directed to vote for one male candidate and when they got to the hall they said no we have change it it’s not that person it’s this woman.

In my own election the Senate, the Governor directed delegates this is the fact if he didn’t let me him come and swear and say I didn’t direct vote for a particular person. 17 delegates came back to give me money which I gave them for logistics other didn’t because they said we wanted to vote for you but we are not allowed to vote”

“I give my self as an example from Kwara where I come from and nationally it can be access I have performed to God be the glory credibly well, people wanted me but the governor did not want it”
