Against the trending news reported a few days ago (not by this medium), that Ilorin West APC Stakeholders had agreed on the nomination of three candidates; Abubakar Suleiman Sai Kayi, Abdulgafar Omotosho, and Salman Saka as candidates to vie for the TIC Chairman of the Local government.

A member of the committee (name withheld) had confided in this medium that their resolution is inconclusive.
Giving the details of what transpired at the two days meeting, the source explained that they could not resolve on the nominees, and it thus became a big surprise to them when they are reading it on media that three of the nominees have been shortlisted. He went on to give full accounts of what happened…
“The first meeting came up Thursday, 19th of November 2020 at Alh. Mustapha Ishowo’s Adewole residence around 3pm.
“The meeting had in attendance eighteen (18) stakeholders from the two constituencies making up Ilorin West and it was unanimously agreed upon there that Magajin Geri constituency would produce the Chairman and other two members of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC).
“Afterwards, the stakeholders divided into two groups of Nine (9)members each working on nominations of candidates to fill with the available positions.
“The group of Magajin Geri Constituency comprised of, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawoyin, Lawyer Kunle Suleiman, Kwara Central APC Women Leader, Hajia Tawa Agaka, S.A Women Empowerment, Alhaja Ajihun (Iya Lamule) Hon. Sankar, Engr. Laaro Hassan, Alh. Kawu Fada, Hon. Saliu Bamidele Aluko and Alhaja Bilikis Igbira.
“During the nomination process, Hassan Owoyale from Magajin Geri ward, Tosho Gafar from Badari ward, Orire Ibrahim from Wara/Osin ward, Rasheed Laaro from Oko-Erin and Engr. Funsho Aluko from Badari ward were all nominated by stakeholders present.
“Consequently, another stakeholder present came up with a fresh nomination of Abubakar Suleiman Sai Kayi (Magajin Geri) Abdulganiy Gerewu (Wara/Osin) and Salman Saka (Oko-Erin), while someone else also suggested one Alfa Razak from Oko-Erin ward bringing the nominated candidates to eight (8) in number.
“After back and forth arguments, the committee agreed on adopting one candidate from any ward that has two candidates. Thus, Abubakar Suleiman Sai Kayi was paired with Hassan Owoyale in Magajin Geri; Tosho Gafar was paired with Engr. Funsho Aluko in Badari; Salman Saka was put against Rasheed Laaro in Oko Erin whilst Ibrahim Orire and Abdulganiy Gerewu were paired in Wara/Osin.
In another round of voting, Hassan Owoyale recorded highest votes against Abubakar Suleiman Sai Kayi.Tosho Gafar lost to Engr. Funsho Aluko. Salman Saka tied at two votes apiece with Rasheed Laaro, and Ibrahim Orire defeated Abdulganiy Gerewu. The votes of each candidates were recorded by Hon. Olawoyin Magaji.
“However, despite all the efforts, the committee couldn’t resolve and they adjourned the meeting to the following day, Friday, 20th November 2020 at the same venue. The meeting has in attendance all the committee members from the Magajin Geri constituency except Lawyer Kunle Suleiman. And after another round of inconclusive arguments and counterarguments bothering on adopting voting or imposition to determine the eventual winner, S.A Women Empowerment, Alhaja Iya Lamule moved motion for the adjournment of the meeting indefinitely and it was supported by all members present.
“It is however amazing that some people went on to media to make false report that we have shortlisted three candidates. This is blatant lie.
We didn’t resolve and all party stakeholders from Ilorin West can testify to this. We call on the executive Governor, Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak, the concerned stakeholders and other interested parties to disregard the purported new as it was nothing a mischief to cause disunity in the party.
