APC Candidate for Ilorin west/Asa Federal constituency, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya through his Campaign group (Muktar Shagaya Movement) on Saturday give out N20,000 to 800 SMEs in Kwara state.
The Beneficiaries who were drawn from Ilorin west/Asa Local governments area of the state received their cash during an empowerment program tagged SME Intervention programme held in Ilorin.
The Founder of Muktar Sagaya Movement (MSM), Honourable Muktar Tolani Sagaya while speaking with newsmen explained that the initiative is aimed at supporting Small and Medium Enterprise in Kwara state.
He said, “We are creating ease for businesses and business owners in Ilorin West/Asa federal constitunecy.
“Exercising your Democratic right should have nothing to do with money, so this aspect of vote buying is not something that we count as a means to earn. What we’re trying to do is to reshape Ilorin West/Asa and how politics is being done in the constituency.”
“We shouldn’t play into what it is being in the past, we are trying to create new ways forward for a brighter future for us all.”
“This is something that has been happening since 2014, it is not has a function of politics, even if I wasn’t doing politics, this empowerment would still continue and its being done every three months so if we can track between when we are now and chronological follow the timeline back, you would notice that in every three months, we always do something along this line.”
When asked if the empowerment has been done with items, The young politician said, “The empowerment is always in cash base and today its N20,000 to small and medium enterprise in Kwara and am sure that the beneficiaries know what they can use it for. So my simple advise is that the beneficiaries should spend it judiciously and they should be upright citizens of Ilorin West/Asa LG and Kwara state.”
Muktar who is a son of Nigerian Business Mogul, Hajia Muinat Shagaya advised kwarans to get their PVC in order to exercise their democratic right.
He said, “What everyone needs to do now is to key in that process, We’ve been given an extended opportunity for all of us to go and have the opportunity to express our democratic right. And those that have attempted the age should get to the INEC PVC enrollment center and get accreditated, am not saying they should vote for me but they should exercise their democratic right.”
“We should all go out and register because without PVC, we can’t vote to make impact in our state and county.” He said.
While Speaking with our men, The Chairman of Salman Shagaya Foundation, Mallam Sheriff Shagaya who also witnessed the event maintained that the gesture was meant to provide succour to small business owners.
He said, “I don’t believe in vote buying, We are very honorable family, through the believe in Allah, we believed that people have to make their own choices and we’ve been on this for a very long time.”
“Today 800 people are receiving the sum of 20,000 and that’s about N16 Million and we will continue to do this after the elections. I hope this little amount we are giving them can make impact in their lifes.”
Earlier in his sermon, Sheikh Abdulrazaq Alohunmota, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity given to them, advising Kwarans to vote youth at all levels, saying that Gen Muritala Muhammed, Tafawa Balewa and others assumed power during their youthful life.
