Amaechi : I don’t regret joining APC
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed recent social media reports claiming he regrets joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to mistreatment by the party’s leadership.
The reports followed allegations by Chief Tony Okocha, chairman of the APC caretaker committee, suggesting that Amaechi had requested not to be involved in any party activities.
In response, Chief Eze Chuekwuemeka Eze, a close associate of Amaechi, issued a statement on Monday. Eze clarified that Amaechi never granted any media audience to anonymous sources or authorized the dissemination of such misleading information.
Eze emphasized that Amaechi does not regret his role in establishing and developing the APC into a significant political force. He noted that leadership issues are not necessarily indicative of a party’s worth in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Eze criticized the “vague” reports as baseless and motivated by individuals seeking to undermine Amaechi. He stated that Amaechi’s silence on party matters is a personal choice, not a reflection of any dissatisfaction with the APC.
Eze also revealed that Amaechi had never met the person behind the false reports and firmly rejected the accusations, stating that Amaechi remains proud of his contributions to the APC and his achievements in rail transportation and national politics.
