Alonso’s leverkusen qualify for Europa league final
Bayer Leverkusen managed by Xabi Alonso has advanced to the Europa League final with a dramatic stoppage-time goal, securing a 2-2 draw against Roma and a 4-2 win on aggregate.
The late strike by Josip Stanisic also set a new European record, extending Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak to 49 games.
The Bundesliga champions will face Atalanta in the final on May 22 in Dublin.
Despite leading for much of the match, Roma fell victim to two late goals, with an own goal and a counterattack leading to their exit.
