Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied allegations that the 10th Senate proposed acquiring new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In a press briefing in Maiduguri, Akpabio called these allegations false. His media aide, Jackson Udom, issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that Akpabio was in Borno State to offer condolences to Senator Tahir Monguno on the passing of his father.

“I want to dispel the rumor that you’ve heard—that the Senate President said he will buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, regardless of the fact that Nigerians are facing hunger,” Akpabio stated.

“I never said that. I was actually in Zanzibar, Tanzania. This is the work of propagandists and fifth columnists who refuse to acknowledge our efforts. Rest assured, pray for the government, have patience, and know that the partnership of Tinubu and Shettima will bring prosperity to everyone.”

Akpabio emphasized that these claims originated from propagandists and fifth columnists, asserting that the Senate’s focus remains on passing legislation to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also expressed satisfaction with the improved security situation in Borno State and urged Nigerians to continue supporting the current administration.
“I am pleased to see that peace has returned to Borno due to the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I encourage the good people of Borno to continue supporting the administration.”
