After three years, Sunday Igboho Returns To Nigeria
His spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that he’s back for his mother’s burial in Igboho and Ibadan. Igboho’s mother passed away while he was detained in Benin in 2023.

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, has returned to Nigeria after three years of exile in the Republic of Benin.
His spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that he’s back for his mother’s burial in Igboho and Ibadan. Igboho’s mother passed away while he was detained in Benin in 2023.
Igboho left Nigeria in 2021 after a violent clash with DSS operatives at his residence in Ibadan. He sought refuge in Benin after being declared wanted by the DSS.
He was arrested in October 2021 while attempting to travel to Germany and was charged with “associating with criminals.”
After spending two years in a Beninese prison, Igboho was recently released. Although granted conditional release earlier for medical treatment, he was not permitted to leave the country.
Igboho expressed gratitude to Benin President Patrice Talon, a former Nigerian president, and Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka for their support during his ordeal.
