AFCON: Iwobi Deletes Photos On Instagram Page Amid Criticisms over Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast
In response to criticism from fans, Iwobi deleted most of his photos and locked the comment section of his remaining video post to avoid cyberbullying.

Following Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi took action on his Instagram page.
In response to criticism from fans, Iwobi deleted most of his photos and locked the comment section of his remaining video post to avoid cyberbullying.
This move comes after the Nigerian team’s dreams of winning a fourth continental crown were dashed with a 2-1 defeat by the hosts.
Iwobi, who played for 79 minutes in the match before being replaced, has faced similar backlash in the past, notably during Nigeria’s exit from the 2021 AFCON, where he and teammate Maduka Okoye also disabled comments on their social media accounts due to heavy criticism.
