Adeleke Accuses Oyetola of Plotting Unrest in Osun, Urges Tinubu to Intervene

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, of orchestrating plans to incite chaos in the state, beginning Monday.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Adeleke called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and restrain Oyetola, whom he described as Tinubu’s nephew. Oyetola currently serves as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

According to Adeleke, Oyetola is leading efforts to enforce a court ruling that overturned the removal of local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun. He warned that if the minister is not cautioned, residents might be forced to defend themselves against any unlawful imposition.

The governor further alleged that Oyetola is working in collusion with top security officials, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to destabilize the state.

“I am addressing this press conference to alert both national and international audiences about a deliberate attempt to create disorder in Osun State,” Adeleke stated.

He described the alleged scheme as an “anti-democratic agenda” aimed at enforcing a questionable court decision on the state’s local government administration.

“This dangerous plot is being coordinated by Minister Gboyega Oyetola, in collaboration with the Osun State Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and the state commandant of the Civil Defense Corps,” he added.

While acknowledging President Tinubu as a “true democrat” who upholds the rule of law, Adeleke expressed concerns that Oyetola was using his ties to the presidency to impose illegality.

“It is regrettable to inform Mr. President and the public that Gboyega Oyetola has finalized plans to cause unrest in Osun State. He is issuing illegal orders to security agencies, leveraging his relationship with the President,” Adeleke alleged.

He emphasized that the disputed local government chairmen were removed before he assumed office, contrary to claims that his administration was behind their dismissal.

Adeleke urged Tinubu to instruct the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, to verify the legal status of the court ruling in question.
