AbdulRazaq Attends Kwara Maulid Celebration, Emphasizes Community and Fairness

In a display of colorful tradition and humility, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq participated in the 2023 public observance of Prophet Muhammad’s birth in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, for the third consecutive year. Seated alongside Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and numerous dignitaries, the Governor was accompanied by members of his cabinet and supporters.

Thousands of Muslims, both men and women, gathered at the Maulid event, where AbdulRazaq emphasized the importance of timeless values such as sincerity, fairness, compassion, continuous devotion to God, and a strong sense of community founded on the fear of God and the common good.

The Governor expressed his warm wishes to the Muslim community and the people of Kwara State, saying, “May the peace and blessings of Allah be on the Prophet, his households, his companions, and all of us.” He stressed the potential of a united community, bound by shared humanity and mutual reliance, and vowed his administration’s commitment to serving with fairness and integrity.

Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Council, retired Grand Kadi Justice Soliu Mohammed, praised the Governor’s generosity, humility, and steadfast support for the community. He offered blessings for the Governor and congratulated the entire community on the Maulid occasion.

Grand Kadi Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, the keynote speaker, used the Maulid as an opportunity for introspection, urging Muslims to embody their faith in both actions and words. He called for patience and understanding during a transitional economic phase marked by the removal of fuel subsidies.

Hon. Moshood Mustapha, event chairman, commended the Governor’s dedication to the community and urged adherence to religious teachings and avoidance of spreading rumors and propaganda. Lecturer Sheikh Abdulmumin Hanafi Ayara emphasized the importance of supporting the government while expressing concerns about government-promoted “gambling.”

Dr. AbdulKadir Sambaki, standing in for Sheikh Habeebullah Adam el-Ilory, called for an increase in religious studies teachers in public schools and urged citizens to forgive one another and assist in doing good.

The event concluded with the Governor honoring children from numerous Islamic and Arabic schools for their participation.
