Abba Yusuf, Kwankwaso not suspended from party – Kano NNPP

Hashimu Dungurawa, the chair of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano, has clarified that Abba Yusuf, the state governor, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former senator, have not been suspended from the party.

Dungurawa’s statement was in response to reports claiming the suspension of both individuals from the NNPP.

Last week, a communique signed by Umar Jibrin and Johnson Omolara asserted that the party’s national executive council (NEC) upheld the suspension of the governor and Kwankwaso.

According to the communique, the governor was suspended in February for “insubordination to party authority.”

However, Dungurawa stated that the signatories of the communique had been expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities.

“Let me be clear that those claiming to have suspended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso were expelled from the party long ago for numerous anti-party activities and collusion with the opposition to create problems within the NNPP,” he said.

“You can see the inconsistency in their actions. How can a party with only one governor and a presidential candidate, who have significantly contributed to its growth, claim to suspend them? Does this make any sense to anyone?

“Those in opposition, who fear the potential emergence of Kwankwaso as the next president of Nigeria in 2027, are behind this act.”
