51,447 intending pilgrims to perform 2024 Hajj

The final count of individuals preparing for the 2024 Hajj has been released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
According to Fatima Sanda Usara, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs for the Commission, the official registration tally reached 51,447 within the government’s allocation.
She expressed gratitude towards the government, notably President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, for their contribution to this endeavor. Usara acknowledged the Federal Government’s sacrifices in facilitating the process for intending pilgrims despite challenges.
She also praised the patience of the pilgrims amidst uncertainties and highlighted the support from various stakeholders, including state governors and media organizations.
Despite the unexpected challenges faced during the 2024 Hajj preparations, lessons have been gleaned, prompting a shift towards long-term planning in the Commission’s pre-Hajj operations.
Notably, Kaduna State recorded the highest number of pilgrims at 4,493, followed closely by Kano with 3,053. Conversely, Bayelsa and Ebonyi States had the fewest pilgrims at 13 each, while Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, and Cross River did not register any pilgrims for the Hajj.
