The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has removed 37 illegal loan apps from circulation, marking an increase from the previous nine.
The total count of approved loan apps has risen to 164, up from 154, as per the most recent updates available on the FCCPC website.
Apps with conditional approval have decreased to 38 from 40, while the number of apps under the commission’s watchlist has surged from 20 to 56.
This crackdown on digital money lending apps by the FCCPC comes in response to reported harassment of Nigerian citizens by these lenders.
The delisted loan apps have been permanently removed from the Google Play Store. Some of the apps on the delisted list include Swiftkash App, Hen Credit Loan App, Cash Door App, and many others.
