2Baba Announces Divorce from Wife, Annie Idibia

Afrobeats star Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has left social media buzzing with the shocking announcement of his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia. The singer disclosed that the couple, who have been married for over a decade, had been separated for a while and have now filed for divorce.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, 2Baba stated:
“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. This is both a short and long message. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.”
He further revealed plans to release a formal statement soon to share his side of the story:
“I will grant a press release soon to tell my story—not because anyone has a right to my personal life but because I love my people and want them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”
However, shortly after this post, another statement appeared on his Instagram account, claiming his account had been hacked and efforts were underway to regain control.
“My Instagram account has been hacked; efforts are being carried out to take back control. #OneLove!”
The situation took another twist when a subsequent post dismissed the hacking claim, asserting that the initial announcement was genuine:
“Hey, my people, nobody hacked my account. I said what I said. I come in peace.”
The news has sparked mixed reactions from fans across social media, with many expressing shock and disappointment.
2Baba and Annie’s relationship has long been celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most iconic celebrity unions. The pair welcomed their first child, Isabella, in 2008. 2Baba proposed to Annie on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and they tied the knot in a private ceremony later that year, followed by a grand white wedding in Dubai in March 2013. They welcomed their second child, Olivia, in 2014.
The announcement marks a heartbreaking turn in what many saw as a love story built to last.
