24hours after BBYDI call, President Tinubu redeploys Momoh as Niger Delta Minister
President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Engr. Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Engr. Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
This came just 24hours after the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), a youth-based non-profit organisation that promotes good governance and youth-inclusive policies, strongly urges President Tinubu to reconsider this choice and take immediate steps to ensure that the youth’s voices are genuinely heard and respected within his administration.
According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Federal Ministry of Youth is to be re-assigned to a Minister-Designate soon.
The statement further revealed that the Ministers-Designate allocated to the Federal Ministries of Transportation, Interior, and Marine & Blue Economy have been reshuffled as follows:
(A) H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy
(B) Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Interior
(C) Hon. Sa’idu Alkali is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Transportation
Furthermore, both Ministers of State in the Oil & Gas sector are now domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources with the following designations:
(i) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri is the Hon. Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources
(ii) Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo is the Hon. Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources
Also, The President approves the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.
All aforementioned changes take immediate effect by these directives of the President, the statement concluded.
Reacting to this development, Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his responsive leadership and keen attention to the concerns raised by the organization.
In a statement issued to Sho Pen Online on Sunday, August 20 by Mrs Jimoh Nurah-Sanni, BBYDI Executive Director, the coalition said, “the decision to redeploy Engr. Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development underscores the President’s commitment to addressing the youth-related matters and ensuring that the right individuals are entrusted with pivotal roles.”
“We are heartened by the President’s recognition of the need for representatives who can truly comprehend and empathize with the unique challenges that our youth face today. This redeployment aligns with BBYDI’s unwavering advocacy for inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and the active participation of young Nigerians in shaping the nation’s trajectory.”
