24 Hours After Mother’s Death, Jigawa Gov Namadi Loses Son

The family of Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has been struck by a second tragedy in less than 24 hours with the death of his eldest son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, in a fatal car accident.
Abdulwahab, who was traveling from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends, reportedly lost control of his vehicle, which somersaulted multiple times. While his friends sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital, Abdulwahab was pronounced dead at the scene.
This heartbreaking incident occurred just a day after the governor lost his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, plunging the family into mourning.
A family source described the dual losses as devastating. “The governor is still grieving the loss of his mother, and now this. It’s an incredibly difficult time for the family,” the source said.
Governor Namadi, who attended his son’s funeral in Kafin Hausa, urged for prayers and patience. “It is Allah’s will, and we cannot question it. I ask everyone to pray for our family during this challenging period,” he said during a brief address at the burial.
Residents of Dutse and Kafin Hausa have continued to visit the governor’s residence to express their condolences. Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, a family friend, described Abdulwahab as a “humble and responsible young man” who had a bright future ahead of him.
“This is not just a loss for the family but for the entire state. He was loved and respected by all who knew him,” Ibrahim remarked.
The state’s Information Commissioner, Malam Sagir Musa, released a statement expressing the government’s condolences. “We stand with His Excellency and his family in this moment of grief. May Allah grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus,” the statement read.
Funeral prayers for Abdulwahab were held at the Kafin Hausa Central Mosque, with high-ranking government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders in attendance. Hospital officials have also confirmed that Abdulwahab’s friends are in stable condition and responding to treatment.
