2027 : Nigeria needs new leaders – Obi, Tinubu, Atiku should step aside – Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, a former presidential campaign spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has called for a change in Nigeria’s political leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
In an interview on Arise Television, Okonkwo criticized both the ruling and opposition parties for failing the nation. He argued that key political figures such as President Bola Tinubu, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi should step aside to allow new leaders with fresh ideas to emerge.
Okonkwo expressed disappointment in the opposition parties, stating that they have not effectively led their members to demand necessary judicial and electoral reforms.
He also highlighted the futility of opposition parties contesting the 2027 elections given the current state of the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He further cautioned against focusing on forming political mergers so soon after an election, emphasizing the need for opposition parties to first consolidate and collaborate to effectively counter the ruling party’s influence.
