2024 Hajj: Kwara Transports 3,102 Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

Kwara State has successfully transported 3,102 pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, with the final batch departing from Gen. Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin on Saturday at 3:06 a.m.
The departure of the final group was originally scheduled for June 6 but faced delays due to technical issues with the designated aircraft.
The state’s first Hajj flight occurred on May 21, with 313 pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for the ongoing pilgrimage.
Subsequent flights included pilgrims from Ondo and Ekiti states, with the penultimate and final flights being the only nighttime and early morning departures among the 12 flights.
Mashood Jimba, chairman of the pilgrim board, expressed gratitude to the state government for its steadfast support throughout the operation.
Mr. Jimba also praised the selection of former Kwara Central Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe as the contingent leader, noting his significant contributions to their success.
He acknowledged the role of aviation regulatory agencies in ensuring the smooth execution of the transportation process through their partnership and collaboration.
Mr. Oloriegbe, the state contingent leader, expressed his thanks to Allah for the successful transportation process, despite some inevitable challenges that were promptly resolved.
He reassured the relatives of the pilgrims that board officials and NAHCON executives have taken comprehensive measures to ensure the well-being of the pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Oloriegbe also requested prayers from the people of Kwara for continued success during the spiritual journey.
He extended warm wishes for a blissful Eid-el-Adha festival to the Muslim Ummah and a successful Grand Durbar celebration to the people of the Ilorin Emirate.
