2023 : Why I Did Not Endorse Any Candidate -Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has explained why he did not endorse any candidate in the 2023 elections.

Soyinka made this known in an interview on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Roadmap 2023.

He claimed that none of the candidates addressed issues that were important to him, such as rebuilding the country.

He said ”Well I don’t think its that we do not understand democracy, it is that certain stakes have been catapulted to the fore and have come to overwhelm what should be the real stuffing of the democratic process”

“One of the reasons why I refused to endorse any candidate forget what people put in my mouth, is that as far as I was concerned, none of the candidates to me actually addressed things which were closest to my heart like reconstructing the nation.

I’m “Yes there were statements here and there that I read but I didn’t really see any genuine commitment, any believable agenda about Restructuring, decentralization which is at the heart for me of Nigeria’s problem at the moment.
