Bayanni, Khaid, and Odumodublvck are among the singers competing for the 2023 Headies ‘Rookie of The Year’ category.

The Headies Academy announced the nominee list for the category via social media on Tuesday.

The nominee list includes Bayanni, the Mavin Records artiste, and Bloody Civilian, the fast-rising songstress.

Other fast-rising singers on the list are Khaid, Guchi, Odumodublvck, and Eltee Skhiliz.

The six singers will compete in a voting category for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ who has had a successful year musically, with the absence of an album in the year under review.

Bayanni, a product of Mavin music academy, started gaining popularity when he was officially unveiled by Don Jazzy, the label boss.

Born Emoseh Khamofu, Bloody Civilian is a 25-year-old singer who began music at the age of 12. She is signed under Def Jam Recordings.

Named Tochukwu Ojogwu, Odumodublvck is famous for his unique style of song delivery.

In 2022, he signed a record deal with NATIVE Records, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.

In the same year, he put out his first single titled ‘Picanto’ — featuring ECko Miles, and Zlatan.

He also released ‘Declan Rice’ — a chart-topping song named after the English footballer.

Khaid, on the other hand, is signed under Neville Records, a music label owned by Sydney Talker, the skit-maker. He was unveiled by the comedian in January 2022.

Ugochi ‘Guchi’ Onuoha is a Kaduna-born Afropop singer who put out her hit track ‘Jennifer’ in 2021.
