11 die In Kwara Road Accident
The collision involved a DAF truck and a Toyota Hiace bus around 4:50 am and was attributed to wrong overtaking and speed violation.
Tragedy struck as eleven individuals lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries in a fatal road accident early Tuesday at Aiyere community along the Bode Saadu-Ilorin route in Kwara State.
The collision involved a DAF truck and a Toyota Hiace bus around 4:50 am and was attributed to wrong overtaking and speed violation.
The ill-fated incident occurred when the Toyota Hiace bus, traveling from Gombe to Lagos, wrongfully overtook another vehicle, resulting in a devastating head-on collision with an oncoming DAF truck.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the state, Stephen Dawulung, confirmed the tragedy. Preliminary investigations revealed the details of the crash.
Among the 18 people (male adults) involved, 11 tragically lost their lives, while the seven survivors with varying degrees of injury were rushed to Ifeoluwa Hospital Bode Saadu for treatment.
The FRSC has initiated an investigation into the crash, extending condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a swift recovery to the injured.
Commander Dawulung urged motorists to adhere to stipulated speed limits, avoid night journeys, and prioritize sufficient rest during extended periods of driving.
